Fantasy Profile: Marcel Reece (RB, Raiders)

With Darren McFadden likely out and Mike Goodson ailing Marcel Reece stands to see the lion’s share of carries in Week 11 versus the run stop impaired New Orleans Saints. In Week 10 Reece was in on 58 of the Raiders’ 75 plays while fellow RB, Taiwan Jones, only saw 6 snaps. That means that in the absence of McFadden and Goodson, Reece is the guy in Oakland. Plus, his 104 combined yards on 20 touches in Week 10 showed that he can have success when involved.

Year Team G/GS Rushing Receiving Fumbles
ATT YDS AVG LNG TD REC YDS AVG LNG TD FUM LOST
2009 Oakland Raiders 2 / 0 0 0 0 0 0 2 20 10 11 0 0 0
2010 Oakland Raiders 16 / 10 30 122 7.6 31 1 25 333 13.3 73T 3 1 1
2011 Oakland Raiders 12 / 6 17 112 9.3 26 0 27 301 11.1 47 2 1 1
2012 Oakland Raiders 9 / 7 14 48 3.4 9 0 33 328 9.9 35 1 2 0

Reece hasn’t had much work as a feature back since his primary role in Oakland has been that of a fullback. However, he has definite upside and will be facing a favorable matchup in Week 11. The Saints are ranked 31st in the league versus running backs, and they are giving up an average of 136 yards and 22.1 fantasy points to running backs through 9 games in 2012. If ever there was a time to take a flyer on a RB it’s when they face the Saints.
