Week 12 Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em – QBs

Each week The Kommish will be doing top 5 start/sit advice by position.

QB

Andrew Luck (Colts v. Bills)

The rookie darling has another good matchup in Week 12 versus the Bills. Luck has been a monster at home, and the Bills’ pass defense has been a wreck on the road. It’s a match made in heaven for the young QB.

Matt Ryan (Falcons @ Bucs)

Don’t get too wrapped up in Ryan’s nightmare Week 11 performance. He has a favorable matchup against Tampa Bay this week, and he’s a must start.

Cam Newton (Panthers @ Eagles)

Oh, Cam. He’s been a real life nightmare and a fantasy frustration, but the numbers are still usually there from a fantasy perspective. Fortunately, Cam faces the Eagles in Week 12 and this could turn out to be a much needed matchup in terms of success.  The Eagles have been a train wreck in every facet of the game recently, and they are giving up an average of 17 fantasy points to QBs at home.

Andy Dalton (Bengals v. Raiders)

Dalton’s Week 11 performance versus the Chiefs was encouraging. In Week 12 the Bengals will face a Raiders team that is giving up an average of 20 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the road. The matchup is right.

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Bills @ Colts)

Fitzpatrick has been up and down this season, but in Week 12 he faces a Colts team that is giving up an average of 17 fantasy points to opposing QBs. Sure, he’s been up and down….but he’s due to be up and the Colts could be the beneficiary of a big day.

QB

Joe Flacco (Ravens @ Chargers)

Interesting combination in this matchup. Flacco has been a nightmare on the road this season. Conversely, the Chargers have been particular stout against the pass while at home. Look for Flacco to struggle in Week 12.

 Carson Palmer (Raiders @ Bengals)

The Cincy defense has been fairly tough on opposing QBs on their home field this season. The Bengals are giving up an average of 13.7 fantasy points to QBs, but only 13.0 when playing at home. Old man Palmer could run into trouble in Bengal town in Week 12.

Philip Rivers (Chargers v. Ravens)

Sure he put up a good game against the Bucs, but aside from that Rivers has been a train wreck in 2012. Combine his woes with the fact that the Chargers are facing a Ravens defense that is only giving up 12 fantasy points to opposing QBs, and you have a potential recipe for failure in San Diego.

Sam Bradford (Rams @ Cardinals)

The Cardinals defense has allowed the second fewest points to quarterbacks this season, and they have had the ability to make the best of players struggle. Steer clear of Bradford in Week 12.

Brandon Weeden (Browns v. Steelers)

The Browns will be facing a stingy Steelers pass defense in Week 12. This does not bode well for the rookie as Pittsburgh is giving up a mere 10.5 fantasy points on average to opposing QBs. That’s 3rd best in the league.
