RGIII could start in Week 16

RGIII, Week 16, Fantasy FootballAlbert Breer is reporting Griffin will likely start this week versus Philadelphia.

In Week 15 Kirk Cousins filled in for an ailing Robert Griffin III after Griffin suffered a lateral collateral ligament sprain the previous week. Cousins was a serviceable fill-in and was even fantasy relevant as he put up 22.4 fantasy points against Cleveland. In terms of real football stats, he tallied 329 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT in a strong showing. Cousins’ success has left coach Mike Shanahan and the Redskins in a relatively decent position as they feel they could give RGIII the time needed to recover from his knee sprain.

From a fantasy perspective, Griffin has the much higher ceiling if he is not slowed down by lingering knee issues. He would be an obvious must start against a weak Eagles defense. Up until his injury, RGIII had been the NFL fantasy points leader for the season and was averaging 22.8 points per week. Barring setback, he will likely be returning to the starting lineup in Week 16. Keep an eye on his status following Friday’s practice.
