Week 14 Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em – WRs

Each week The Kommish will be giving start/sit advice by position. Check back weekly for updates.

Start ‘Em

Torrey Smith (Ravens @ Redskins)

Smith didn’t do much last week versus the Steelers, but the matchup is night and day different going into Week 14. The Ravens face a Washington team that is ranked 30th when it comes to points given up to wide receivers.

Kenny Britt (Titans @ Colts)

Britt is seeing a good number of targets and has serious upside as Tennessee is facing a banged up Colts defense. Indy is giving up an average of 24.3 fantasy points per week to opposing receivers.

Hakeem Nicks (Giants v. Saints)

Nicks has been a bit of a disappointment this season due to lingering injuries. However, in the last few weeks he’s started to bounce back and it looks like his timing with Manning is getting back to where it should be. He should have a strong week versus a sad Saints defense.

Jeremy Kerley (Jets @ Jaguars)

The Jets offense stinks and the quarterback situation is a mess. That said, they are facing a shoddy Jacksonville pass D and Kerley has been the top targeted receiver on the squad. He doesn’t have much a nose for the endzone, but the targets and matchup are pointing the positive direction. He’s particularly viable in PPR leagues going into Week 14.

Sit ‘Em

Danario Alexander (Chargers @ Steelers)

DX has looked good in recent weeks, but he faces a tough defense in Week 14. Pittsburgh is ranked #1 in the league against the pass.

Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals @ Seahawks)

Don’t you wish you could save poor Larry? His talent is being wasted on a struggling offense. I can’t even believe I’m seeing his name in the “Sit ‘Em” list…but it’s there. Arizona is facing a tough Seahawks pass defense that is only allowing 15.6 points to receivers. If you have other options for Week 14, look into them.

Steve Smith (Panthers v. Falcons)

Another #1 showing up on the sit list. Sad days. Steve Smith and the Panthers have been hot and cold this season. Despite Newton remaining a must start at QB, his real football numbers aren’t so good. Smith is only averaging 8.5 points per week and this week will face a Falcons defense that gives up the least points to wide receivers. Sit him in favor of better options.

Stevie Johnson (Bills v. Rams)

Stevie has been out of practice all week due to injury. He’s listed as questionable and will probably play, but the hamstring could limit his production and playing time. The bills will be facing a Rams defense that is ranked 9th against wide receivers and is giving up an average of 18.0 fantasy points to WRs.
