Divisional Round Sit of the Week – Michael Turner

Michael Turner, Falcons, Divisional Round, Sit of the WeekEach week The Kommish will take a look at the matchups around the league and give a Sit of the Week suggestion. These picks are based on player trends, strength of the opponents, and general potential to flop in a given week. Fantasy football is fickle, so “sit” suggestions should be taken with a grain of salt. Enjoy!

Atlanta Falcons running back, Michael Turner, is the Sit of the Week for the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. Ever since Turner left San Diego he’s been a fantasy football journeyman. He’s been good for the 8 to 12 points weeks which have made him a boring play for most owners. This season was more of the same as he averaged 9.94 fantasy points per week. One things he has not been doing is breaking away and putting up monster performances. Combine that with his shared backfield time with Jacquizz Rodgers, and it makes turner an iffy play anyway.

Coming into the Divisional Round of the playoffs the Falcons will be facing a touch Seattle defense. This is going to be a hard fought matchup, and there is a great deal of room for Turner to struggle. The Seahawks defense has given up the 5th fewest points to opposing running backs in 2012, and they are allowing an average of 12.3 fantasy points per week to all rushers. In the Wild Card Round, Seattle held the Redskins to a total of 104 yards rushing as a team. That defense is solid, and it could be a rough day for Michael Turner.
