Week 2 IDP Waiver Targets

Ryan KerriganWeek 1 is in the books, folks! Welcome to the 2013 season and all of its fantasy football goodness.  Now it’s time to start wading through the sea of IDP options out there. I’ll be doing a weekly post on IDP waiver options that will be separate from the standard PDW Waiver Pick-Ups. Enjoy and good luck in your fantasy IDP endeavors.

Ryan Kerrigan (LB, Redskins)

Kerrigan was laying on the pressure against the zippy Eagles offense in Week 1 as he recorded 8 tackles and a sack along with a pass deflection that resulted in a Redskin TD. He did leave the game with a concussion but passed the tests on Tuesday, so he should be cleared to play in Week 2.

Shaun Phillips (LB, Broncos)

The old man still has it. Phillips is filling the void left by Von Miller’s suspension, and he was productive in Week 1. He recorded 2.5 sacks and showed that he can get to the quarterback and provide a good pass rush. With Miller out six weeks Phillips is a good play.

Akeem Dent (LB, Falcons)

Dent led the team in tackles in Week 1 with 11, and he showed that he can get the job done. He’s a solid tackle producer and a worthwhile play in tackle heavy leagues.

Duke Ihenacho (S, Broncos)

Ihenacho has solidified himself at strong safety after beating out Mike Adams in preaseason. He had a strong Week 1 performance as he led the Broncos in tackles and showed that he was stout in the box. Denver doesn’t do a lot of safety blitzing, but they may need all the pressure help they can get with Von Miller out for six weeks. Regardless, he’s worth the pick up for tackle potential.

Barry Church (S, Cowboys)

Church had a big night in Week 1 as he piled up 8 tackles, forced a fumble, and recovered a fumble for a TD return. He’s settling in nicely in the new 4-3 defense in Dallas, and he could prove to be a consistent producer.
