Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire Targets

Von MillerWe’re gearing up for Week 7 and it’s time for another return from suspension. Let’s take a look at Von Miller and other IDP options worth picking up this week. Good luck in Week 7!

Von Miller (LB, Broncos)

Will Miller have the burst back on the scene following suspension that Daryl Washington did a few weeks ago?  Probably not because that was a ridiculous week. That said, if Miller is somehow still available in your league, you need to go get him. He certainly won’t come back and put up numbers like 2012, but he’s a menace in the pass rush and should have success.

Jon Beason (LB, Giants)

An oldy but a goody, Beason could be just what the doctor ordered for the Giants defense. He jumped right in after being acquired by the G-Men to offer 12 total tackles in Week 6. Beason has long been a great IDP option, but saw a declining role in the last few seasons with Carolina. With the Giants he becomes a rejuvenated IDP option. Plus, with all of the turnovers being delved out by the team’s offense Beason and the defense stands to spend plenty of time on the field to rack up statistical achievements.

Spencer Paysinger (LB, Giants)

You listened to me a few weeks ago and already picked Paysinger up, right? Well, you should have.  He had a down week in Week 6, but he has been productive in 2013 and is worth grabbing. Paysinger is a reasonably solid IDP start and similarly to Beason, he stands to see a lot of time on the field if the Giants struggles continue.

Tamba Hali (LB, Chiefs)

Hali has been evolving as a standup pass rusher in Kansas City’s 3-4 defense and he really lit it up in Week 6. He tallied 3.5 sacks and brought his season total to 7.5. That’s solid production, and Hali is likely available in many of your IDP leagues. Better go get him.

Jerry Hughes (LB, Bills)

Hughes is starting to settle in well with his new team in Buffalo. While he couldn’t make it work in Indianapolis, he’s being given the opportunity to shine in the Bill’s defense. He’s been particularly hot in recent weeks piling up 16 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in the last two weeks. His role could be even more important if fellow linebacker Manny Lawson misses time with a hamstring injury.

Jason Hatcher (DE, Cowboys)

With DeMarcus Ware getting injured in Week 6 there was fear that the Cowboys would lose their pass rush. Hatcher quickly dispelled that as he piled up 5 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble. Dallas will be relying on him heavily to get it done in the pass rush going forward especially if Ware misses significant time.

Eric Reid (S, 49ers)

Reid hasn’t exactly put up consistent numbers, but he has big score potential. Thus far in 2013 he’s come up big with 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery. While those are often haphazard stats, it does show he has a nose for the ball. You’d like to see his tackle numbers rise a bit, but he’s certainly a decent option and worth stashing for a rainy day.

Mike Mitchell (S, Panthers)

Mitchell has been on fire as an IDP option in the last two weeks. In Week 6 he tallied 7 tackles, 1 sack, and 2 interceptions. He’s still available in many IDP leagues, and he’s a good option going forward.
