IDP Woes: Arizona’s Darnell Dockett out for 2014 season with torn ACL

It’s gone from good to bad to worse for the Arizona defense. 2013’s #6 defensive unit has been reduced to shambles due to injury and suspension to star players this offseason.  The latest on the hit list is defensive lineman Darnell Dockett as he suffered a torn ACL and MCL on Monday. Despite his increasing age Dockett has been a key piece on a strong defense and this loss could be the straw that broke the proverbial camel’s back for Arizona.

Dockett was coming off one of his best seasons tallying 46 tackles and 4.5 sacks. While not necessarily always a good IDP option, Dockett has often been classified in some fantasy leagues as either a DT or DE. He’s often had increased value in the event that he’s been classified as a tackle in leagues that require a DT only slot.  Dockett has been a key veteran on Arizona’s defense. This is a big loss and it’s very likely that this defense could be going from potentially one of best in the league to one of the worst for 2014
