NFL Playoff Picks Against the Spread (Wild Card Round)

The playoffs are here! For each round of the playoffs I’ll be working in coordination with Fantasy Pros on Picks Against the Spread. Here’s a look at Wild Card Weekend!

Baltimore Ravens (+3) over Pittsburgh Steelers

baltimore-ravens-logoThis is the one dog I’m picking of the week. Pittsburgh could find themselves without the service of their super star, Le’Veon Bell. At the very least, Bell won’t be 100%. That means the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of Big Ben and the aerial attack to Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. I’m expecting Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense to find success against a Pittsburgh pass defense that is in the bottom of the league. It’s going to be a tough fought game between divisional rivals, but I’m going with Baltimore in this one.

Carolina Panthers (-6.5) over Arizona Cardinals

carolina_panthers_logoMaybe he’s getting healthy at the right time or maybe the car accident lit a fire under him. Either way, Cam Newton has been hot in recent weeks. He’s looked sharp and had great production while showing excellent decision making. A trait at which he’s suffered at various times in the past. He and the Panthers will be facing a tough Arizona defense, but I expect them to be able to power their way through against a Cardinals team that is beyond decimated. I don’t expect Arizona to be able to put up enough offense to have a chance at this one. It was a good run for them though. One for the books.

Dallas Cowboys (-6.5) over Detroit Lions

dallas-cowboys-logoIt’s playoff time, so that means it’s time for a meltdown for the Dallas Cowboys. Oh wait, they’re facing a Lions team that suffers in the playoffs, too? That makes things interesting. For as much as I love Megatron and want to see him and the Lions find playoff success, I just don’t think it’s in the cards yet again. The Cowboys offense has been producing very well, and…hey look…Tony Romo finished the regular season with the best QB rating in the league this season. Romo quietly had the best season of his career. Now is the time to get the playoff monkey of his back, and I see him and the Cowboys outlasting Detroit in this one. I know the Lions defense is tops in the league, but it won’t be enough this week.

Indianapolis Colts (-3) over Cincinnati Bengals

indianapolis-colts-logoThis one is the toughest pick of the week. Cincinnati will be coming to Indy looking for revenge for the shutout they suffered to the Colts in Week 7. The Bengals will certainly have a different team this time. A.J. Green will be at their disposal and their running game with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard has gotten hot. The Colts certainly have plenty of weaknesses to exploit, but I expect their offense to be too much for the Bengals to handle in this game. Indianapolis finished the season as the #3 offense in the NFL, and they will be able to simply out produce Cincy in this one. Tough break for the Bengals.
