Chris Johnson is a Sneaky Pick in Week 2

Sure, you’ve heard this one before. I was off the mark last season. It happens. Now it’s a new year and again I’m going to throw Chris Johnson’s name out there as a sneaky high value play going into Week 2. Andre Ellington is very likely going to miss at least this week and probably more, and Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has said CJ will be the “lead dog”.

Here’s what to like. Throw out a down season with the Jets last season and a low touchdown tally season from 2013, and Johnson’s numbers are still pretty good. If he indeed is going to be the lead dog and get every opportunity for success, Arizona might be the right fit at the right time. Rookie David Johnson will get work as the change-of-pace back, but CJ will be getting the bulk of the carries and opportunities. He’s still available in 52% of ESPN fantasy leagues and he’s going for around $3,800 in salary based daily fantasy. Go get him.

As I mentioned, Johnson is a value and value is the name of the game when it comes to fantasy whether it’s daily fantasy, season long leagues, or trying your luck at a bet sportsbook. Check back weekly for more sneaky value picks, fantasy player rankings, daily fantasy projections, and be sure to check out excellent analysis and resources from our partners at numberFire and Fantasy Pros.
