Week 13 Standard & PPR Waiver Wire Targets
- Updated: November 26, 2013
For many leagues, this is your last week of the regular season. And, for many of you it’s make or break. Going into Week 13 let’s take a look at the waiver wire prospects that could launch you into the playoffs and beyond. Good luck!
Montee Ball (RB, Broncos)
Knowshon Moreno had a monster game in Week 12, but he also came up lame with a foot bruise that could potentially keep him off the field for a few weeks. In all likelihood, Ball is sitting on someone’s roster in your league, but you have to pick him up if he’s available. If Moreno is out, Ball will be sharing the load with Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson. Ball has the most upside of the three.
Benny Cunningham (RB, Rams)
Cunningham did a nice job filling in when Zac Stacy went out with a concussion in Week 12. It will be worth keeping an eye on Stacy’s status as he goes through concussion evaluation. If he misses time, then Cunningham becomes a great addition.
Nate Burleson (WR, Lions)
Burleson made his return to the field in Week 12 and had a solid day hauling in 10 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. If he’s healthy, Burleson will be a nice option opposite Megatron going forward. He should stand to benefit from the added coverage shifted Calvin’s way.
Tiquan Underwood (WR, Bucs)
It seems that Mike Glennon is fitting in nicely with the Bucs, and he has shown that he has good chemistry with Underwood. In Week 12 Underwood had 3 catches on 5 targets for 108 yards and 2 TDs. Vincent Jackson is often going to draw added coverage, and Underwood stands to benefit.
Julian Edelman (WR, Patriots)
Edelman reappeared on the scene for New England in Week 12 after being largely a non factor for many weeks. His 9 receptions for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns is certainly impressive, and he could be a decent addition going forward. However, keep in mind that Tom Brady has many targets and Edelman isn’t going to have big weeks like this all the time. It’s worth noting that Edelman was targeted more than teammate Danny Amendola.
Ladarius Green (TE, Chargers)
The tight end position is pretty weak this season for guys not named Jimmy Graham. Green had a good game in Week 12 for the Chargers, so he’s worth consideration if you’re needing TE help. Antonio Gates is obviously the starter, but Green has now put up better performances than the aging veteran two weeks in a row.
Cleveland Browns Defense/Special Teams
Here late in the season you may be looking to squeeze all the points out of your roster that you can, so finding defense to rent for the week could be on your radar. It’s been a good play all season to go with the defenses that are facing the Jags because…well…the Jags are bad. The Browns defense is available in over 80% of ESPN leagues, so they’re probably out there to be picked up.
New England Patriots Defense/Special Teams
The Patriots defense could be another late season pickup that could do your roster some good. In Week 13 they’ll be facing a struggling Texans team that is giving up the second most fantasy points to opposing defenses. They could be a good late addition.
