Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em – WR

Week 5

Each week The Kommish offers up a Start ‘Em/Sit ‘Em list of hot and not players based on matchups and general awesomeness potential (or lack thereof).

QB     |     RB     |     WR     |     TE     |     K     |     DEF

Start ‘Em

DeSean Jackson (Eagles at Giants)

The Philly track meet offense is off to New Jersey, and this week’s matchup is good news for their speedy wide receiver. The Giants defense has been struggling and they are currently giving up an average of 25.5 points to opposing wide receivers.

Josh Gordon (Browns vs. Bills)

Josh Gordon has looked good in his 2013 return and new QB Brian Hoyer seems to have a hot hand right now. This could be another good week as Gordon and company are facing a Bills defense that is giving up the second most fantasy points to wide receivers.

Eric Decker (Broncos at Cowboys)

Sure, he’s the number three receiver in Denver but there’s plenty of love to go around. Decker has seen more targets than the other Broncos receivers in the last three weeks, and the matchup in Week 5 should be a good one. The Cowboys are giving up an average of 24.0 fantasy points to wide receivers. Combine that with the fact that Peyton Manning is red hot and going to distribute the ball around, and you have a good recipe to start Decker.

 Sit ‘Em

Torrey Smith (Ravens vs. Dolphins)

Joe Flacco’s “eliteness” doesn’t play into this decision. Smith will be facing a Miami defense that is giving up the second fewest points to receivers. No need to risk it with Torrey in Week 5.

Dwayne Bowe (Chiefs at Titans)

Bowe has been fairly disappointing through 4 weeks in 2013, but one shouldn’t give up hope.  That said, he has a bad matchup against a tough Tennessee pass defense in Week 5. The Titans are giving up a slight 15.5 fantasy points to wide receivers. That’s fifth fewest in the league and that spells beware for Bowe owners.
